BUILDING COMMUNITY: KNIGHT HAWKS FINDING SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE FIELD

After their bye week, the Vegas Knight Hawks hold a 7-1 record – the best in franchise history. But equally noteworthy is the team's dedication to the Henderson community off the field. On Friday, May 10, the team hosted Henderson Heroes Knight to honor prestigious members of the local community. And over the first half of the season, they have worked with organizations like Child Haven, City of Henderson employees, and local community initiatives to continue to give back.

"The thought process behind our Henderson Heroes Knight was really to support and fuel our community off the field the same way that they support us," said Christina Woods, Director of Marketing and Community Initiatives. "We're really leaning into our goals and our mission; we're Henderson's hometown indoor football team. We want to celebrate those that have done a great job lifting up this community."

Ahead of the game, Knight Hawks players visited the Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department, and Henderson Animal Shelter to learn more about the people that dedicate their lives to making the city a better place.

"I think it's extremely important that people see the daily lives of those that do so much for our community, especially for our players," she added. "We have some guys that are local, but most of them come from different communities, cities, and states all around the country. So it's important for players, coaches, and staff to make those connections and see, day-to-day, how they make this a better place. It's always a really humbling experience for us during these community outreach initiatives, and it really goes to show that when we visit these individuals and learn about what they do, we have an amazing platform that we can share these stories on. It's incredibly rewarding."

The Knight Hawks' season is far from over, and the team continues to ramp up their community initiatives as well. Over the next few weeks of the season, the team looks forward to hosting football mini-clinics, working in partnership with the IFL's Build Your Base program, and hosting their third annual back-to-school drive.

"Our first program that's coming up is the Build Your Base initiative in partnership with the IFL and Beef Logic," Woods said.

On Tuesday, May 28, the team attended the first of this series of clinics alongside Clark County's Child Haven.

"This is really targeted to help uplift youth and educate them about healthy living and active lifestyles through sports. We'll be continuing to go to mini-clinics and teach these kids about fueling your body in a healthy way. And the second upcoming initiative is our back-to-school drive in partnership with the City of Henderson, all of our tenant teams here at Lee's Family Forum, and Henderson Police Department. This will take place during July. We'll kick off with a school supply drive, and at the end of July we'll have a distribution and resource event that's open to the public. It helps provide students with the supplies that they need for the upcoming school year."

"If you're a fan, we're always looking for organizations to support that have values which align with our values. A greatway to get started is to provide us with referrals so we can get out in the community even more and continue that support. And with the school drive coming up, we are looking for fans and members of the community to bring supplies to the games they attend so that these supplies can be distributed to local students. Distributions are welcome at all of our June home games and on July 20."
