VEGAS SUNK THE PIRATES’ SHIP, WINNING 73-33
The first game of the inagural IFL Cup did not get off to an easy start. Orlando controlled the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns, including one set up by an interception from DJ Daniels. Vegas fought to catch up, with touchdowns from Josh Tomas and Jayden De Laura to cut the deficit to 20-14.
The second quarter was a reset for the Knight Hawks. Clifton Duck came up with a key interception at 14:05, giving Vegas the perfect chance to even the score. John Erby and Josh Tomas each found the end zone, with Terry Roberts catching his fourth interception of the season for Vegas to finally take the lead, 28-26.
Vegas took over the third quarter and never looked back. Senika McKie and Jayden De Laura both scored touchdowns to stretch the lead 49-26.
The fourth quarter was the perfect statement finish for the Knight Hawks. De Laura scored his third rushing touchdown of the night, and Tomas punched in one more at 4:41, to make the game 65-33. Wide Receiver Jaylon Tillman then scores his first touchdown as a Knight Hawk, to seal the end at 73-33.
The Knight Hawks have punched their ticket to the IFL Cup Championship and will face the Arizona Rattlers at American Dream this Sunday, May 24th, at 4:30 p.m. PT. That game will be available to stream on Yahoo Sports.
