VEGAS ROLLS PAST CHUPACABRAS, 50-16
The Vegas Knight Hawks defeated the New Mexico Chupacabras, 50-16, on Sunday afternoon at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Vegas opened the scoring on their first drive of the game; Quincy Crittedon found Deshon Stoudemire for a deep TD catch four-minutes into the first. Following a Chupacabra field goal, Crittedon threw his second deep ball of the game to Senika McKie making it 14-3 Vegas at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter started with both teams trading missed field goals. With running back La’James White in at quarterback for New Mexico, a fumbled snap is recovered by Irshaad Davis and ran back for a score. This made the score 21-3, Vegas on top, with five-minutes left in the half. Vegas would cap off the first half with a touchdown pass to Antonio Wimbush and a deuce by Gabe Rui on the subsequent kickoff, giving Vegas a 30-3 lead at the half.
The Knight Hawks kept their momentum rolling into the second half: stopping New Mexico on their first drive and scoring on another deep pass from Crittedon to Stoudemire. New Mexico scored their first TD of the game from Walter Wilbon III, cutting the Vegas lead to 36-9.
Vegas would tack on another touchdown, this time from John Erby, to make it 43-9 three-minutes into the fourth quarter. New Mexico would answer with a TD pass from White to Damon Street, making it 43-16 Vegas. Erby would add another score to his stat sheet with a 10-yard run to make the final score 50-16.
Vegas will now return home for their final two games, the first will be on July 12 against San Diego.
