HENDERSON (May 19, 2022) – The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced today that Vegas Knight Hawks quarterback Jerod Evans has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Knight Hawks to a road victory against the San Diego Strike Force on Saturday, May 14. This is Evans' second Offensive Player of the Week award in three weeks.
 
Evans, a Dallas native who played collegiately at Virginia Tech, threw six touchdowns passes in Vegas' 68-23 win at San Diego. He finished 13-for-18 passing for 179 yards and ran for 12 yards as well. The Knight Hawks are 2-1 since Evans was named the team's starting quarterback.
 
Vegas led the whole game, starting with an Evans touchdown pass to Jeff Ejekam. He threw four more first-half touchdown passes – two each to Dez Epps and Kasey Allison. He sealed the game in the second half by connecting with Allison for a third time. 
 
Evans also was named Offensive Player of the Week after his first start, May 1 at defending IFL champion Massachusetts. He threw for four touchdowns and ran for three more in that game. Through three games Evans has 11 touchdown passes without an interception.
 
Evans and the Knight Hawks return home to face the Duke City Gladiators on Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at The Dollar Loan Center (1230 The Game).
