NOTES
Vegas will travel to Tucson, Arizona for the first time this season to take on the Sugar Skulls. The 7-0 Knight Hawks hold the last undefeated record in the IFL and are first in the Western Conference. The Sugar Skulls have not had the same success to start the 2024 season. They are currently 1-5 and sit second-to-last in the conference. Tucson's lone win came against the winless Duke City Gladiators.
Running back
Antonio Wimbush looks to build on last week's performance. He ran for 43 yards and had three touchdowns along with 16 receiving yards and a catching score. Tucson's defense ranks 12th and 13th overall in rush and pass defense respectively. The top-ranked Vegas offense scored 68 points against the San Diego Strike Force in Week 9. The Knight Hawks will look to replicate that production this week on the road.
OPPOSITION UPDATE
Tucson's most dangerous offensive weapon is dual-threat quarterback Mylik Mitchell. In five appearances he has amassed 494 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. He also leads the Sugar Skulls rushing offense with 232 yards and 10 more scores. The Knight Hawks defensive line will look to take away the run game from both Mitchell and running back Mike Jones.
Tucson will be coming into this game with extra motivation to get a win against some familiar faces. Vegas offensive coordinator Hurtis Chinn and defensive coordinator Xzavie Jackson were both on the Sugar Skulls staff in 2023. Chinn won IFL Coach of the Year as the head coach of the Sugar Skulls in 2023 and Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022.
