WEEK 14: VEGAS KNIGHT HAWKS AT DUKE CITY GLADIATORS

NOTES:
On Saturday, June 15 the Vegas Knight Hawks travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico looking to snap a three-game skid. Vegas currently sits at 7-3 putting them at second in the Western Conference while Duke City is at the bottom of the standings with a 1-9 record. This will be the second and final meeting between the Knight Hawks and the Gladiators this season.

To use a cliché: football is a game of inches. This over simplistic phrase describes how close the three Vegas losses were to being wins. Against Tucson, Vegas lost on a two-point conversion in OT following a lengthy review that negated a Makel Calhoun safety. Against NAZ, Vegas took a late lead on a Kevin Macias rouge before NAZ's Josh Jones ran in the winning score with 14 seconds left. Finally, last week in Sioux Falls, Storm kicker Dean Sarris' 46-yard field goal hit the crossbar and bounced in as time expired to force OT.

All of this is to say that the sky is not falling in Henderson. Vegas recorded four tackles for loss and two sacks last week in a strong defensive showing. Defensive back James Ceasar led the team with four and a half tackles and an interception.

Receiver Caleb Holley led all players last week with four touchdowns, three receiving and one rushing. Fellow members of the "Flight Club," the Knight Hawks' nickname for the receiver corps, CJ Windham and Quentin Randolph each had over 40 receiving yards and Randolph tacked on a rushing score.

OPPOSITION UPDATE:

The Duke City Gladiators are also coming into this contest off three close games. The Gladiators notched their first win of the season against Tucson by a score of 21-20. This win is sandwiched between two losses where the total margin of defeat was three points. When Vegas comes to town it will be Duke City's first home game since May 11.
In their last game against NAZ, quarterbacks Hasan Rogers and Javin Kilgo split time under center. Rodgers was the more productive of the two with five total scores and 199 total yards.
