NOTES:
This Saturday the Bay Area Panthers will head south for their second meeting of the year with the Vegas Knight Hawks. In their first meeting back on May 4, Vegas defeated the defending IFL champs 62-43 in San Jose, CA. This will mark the first time that former VKH quarterback Daquan Neal returns to Henderson to face his old club.
Saturday's contest also holds major playoff implications for both teams. Bay Area can be the first team in the West to clinch with a win OR a loss by the Arizona Rattlers. Vegas will clinch their first playoff berth in team history with a win AND losses from both Arizona and San Diego.
In their contest last weekend against the Arizona Rattlers, two Vegas players had standout performances – line-backer Gabe McCoy and receiver
CJ Windham. McCoy led the team with seven tackles, one and a half sacks and a forced fumble. On the offensive side of the ball, Windham recorded his season high with 102 yards on five catches along with three touchdowns.
Quarterback
Ja'Rome Johnson also had a night to remember with 255 all-purpose yards and eight total touchdowns. Four of his scores came through the air and four came on the ground. One of his rushing scores came by way of a 45-yard defensive torching run.
OPPOSITION UPDATE:
Although Bay Area and Vegas sit in the first and second spots in the Western Conference respectively, neither has secured a playoff spot. Bay Area sits a 10-2 and they are playing like a team trying to defend it's IFL Championship. The Panthers offense ranks seventh in the league scoring an average of 45-points per game. Defensively, Bay Area sits at second overall only surrendering an average of 37-points to their opponents.
