NOTES:
On Saturday, June 8 the 7-2 Vegas Knight Hawks will make the 1,100-mile journey to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the first ever meeting with the Sioux Falls Storm. Both teams are coming into week 13 looking to bounce back after a loss. Sioux Falls fell to the Iowa Barnstormers last week and Vegas has dropped their last two contests. Vegas lost those games by a combined seven points with a bye week in the middle.
Even in a loss, there are things coaches and players can take away as positives. For Vegas it's their prolific offense. Vegas has the number one ranked offense in the IFL, scoring an average of 54 points per game. Offensive coordinator Hurtis Chinn has Vegas rolling regardless of who is in at quarterback.
Jorge Reyna made his first start of the season last week against the Wranglers. He put up 245 all-purpose yards and had five total touchdowns.
The Knight Hawks offensive line has seen several changes since week one. The current line made of
Moses Mallory,
Kordell Brewster, and
Fred Lauina have become a formidable front for any defense to try and break. They allow less than one sack per game and create the space needed for Vegas to have the second most rushing scores in the league.
The game against Sioux Falls will be a homecoming game of sorts for Knight Hawks defensive back
Malik Hausman. Although he is a Las Vegas native, much of Hausman's family hails from Sioux Falls. Hausman and the rest of the Vegas defense will look to get their game back in order going up against the tenth overall ranked offense in the IFL.
OPPOSITION UPDATE:
Sioux Falls currently sits at 2-7 overall led by quarterback Lorenzo Brown Jr. who currently has 11 passing touchdowns in 2024. Although this is the first time Vegas will play the Storm, this is not the first time they have seen Brown Jr. He was the man under center for Arizona in Vegas' season opener. In that game he had 120 passing yards, one touchdown, one interception and he was sacked twice.
