IFL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: VEGAS VS GREEN BAY

On Saturday, August 23 the Vegas Knight Hawks will travel to Tucson, AZ to play the Green Bay Blizzard in the Indoor Football League National Championship at Tucson Arena. This will be the second time these two teams have ever played each other. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

NOTES:

The Vegas Knight Hawks are coming off of a 74-point performance in the Western Conference Championship game. In the win, the Vegas passing game led the way; Quarterback Jayden De Laura threw for 243 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 38 yards and a touchdown. Of his seven touchdown passes, five of them landed in the hands of Quentin Randolph. Randolph had 108 yards on the evening and also recorded a rushing touchdown. His fellow receivers CJ Windham Jr. and CJ Jefferson each also caught a touchdown.

Quarterback Ja'Rome Johnson and D-Linemen Claude Davis and Lorenzo Hernandez came in during the overtime period for what would become the final play of the game for a tush-push to win the game for Vegas, 74-68.

On defense, defensive back James Ceasar led the team in tackles with seven, he also recorded two pass breakups. Chizzi Umunakwe forced and recovered a Nate Davis fumble along with four and a half tackles, a TFL, and a pass breakup.

Kicker Ben Derby went nine-for-nine on PATs, one-for-one on field goal attempts, and he recorded a two-point deuce on a kickoff.

This season, four players have been named to All-IFL teams: defensive lineman Claude Davis and defensive back James Ceasar were named to the All-IFL Second Team. Receiver Quentin Randolph and running back Antonio Wimbush were named to the All-IFL First Team. Wimbush was named as both a running back and kick returner.

Antonio Wimbush was also named the 2025 IFL Special Teams Player of the year.

OPPOSITION UPDATE:

The Green Bay Blizzard finished the 2025 regular season with a record of 10-6 and due to a series of tie breakers, they claimed the second overall seed in the Eastern Conference. In the first round they defeated the Tulsa Oilers 58-36 and then defeated the top seeded Quad City Steam Wheelers in the Eastern Conference Championship, 71-64.

In their conference championship victory, quarterback Max Meylor threw for five touchdowns and 185 yards. Four of his touchdowns were to TJ Davis who also had 75 yards on six catches.

Their defense was led by Andre White who had seven tackles. Cali Jackson Jr. and Tramond Lofton each recorded a TFL.

This Blizzard team boasts the league's highest ranked offense, scoring an average of 53.7 points per game. The defense however is ranked twelfth in the IFL, allowing 45.5 points per game.

Green Bay also had a number of players named to All-IFL teams: receiver TJ Davis and D-linemen Allen Henry were named to the All-IFL Rookie team. Davis, center Andrew Carter, and O-lineman Jake Parks were named to the All-IFL Second Team. Quarterback Max Meylor and kicker Andrew Mevis were both selected for the All-IFL First Team.

Blizzard Offensive Coordinator Matt Behrendt was named the IFL Assistant Coach of the Year. Head Coach Corey Roberson was named Head Coach of the Year in 2024.
